Moscow City Duma will discuss the need to install alcolocks on carsharing and taxis

The need to equip carsharing and taxis with alcolocks will be discussed in the Moscow City Council in the autumn session. This was reported to TASS by Alexei Shaposhnikov, Chairman of the Moscow City Parliament, on Thursday.

The issue of the alcolocks has been initiated by deputies of capital parliament. Due to the importance of this theme, it will be discussed in autumn session of the Moscow City Council. A round table with taxi and carsharing owners will be held. The question on the need of installation is opened and demands a detailed discussion. But it’s obvious that all the carsharing must be equipped with such devices”, said Alexei  Shaposhnikov.

Earlier, he said that an issue of granting the traffic police with an access to carsharing database will be also discussed. According to him, a lot of cases of using carsharing with fake accounts or fake ID have been detected in Moscow. 

The perpetrators are, of course, brought to administrative responsibility, but the procedure of identifying such offenders may be simplified by giving the access to the to the relevant accounts to the traffic police, added Alexei  Shaposhnikov.

Also, a proposal to discuss the tightening of administrative responsibility, including a fine increase for driving without rights had been received in the Moscow City Duma.

Alcolock is a device that is built into the car ignition system. It which blocks engine start in case when 0.2 ppm on the breathalyser is exceeded.
