Number of accidents involving taxis in Moscow has decreased by 30% since the beginning of 2021

A number of accidents involving taxis has decreased by 30% during the three months of this year, reported TASS the press service of Moscow traffic police. 

"We observe a significant decrease in the main indicators of accidents with the participation of taxi cars. Besides, a number of fatalities has also decreased by 75%, while the number of injured people reduced by 30%.

The representative has also noted that the Moscow traffic police will continue preventive works, aimed at detecting and prompt suppressing traffic rules violations.

Earlier, the head of the Russian traffic police Mikhail Chernikov said that the number of passengers killed in accidents involving taxis has increased throughout the Russia. Although, according to him, in general, the number of such accidents in the country remains at the level of the last two years. The press service of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs told TASS that the number of accidents caused by drunken taxi drivers increased by almost 15% during 2020, while the number of injured person grew by almost 2,5 times.

Total, according to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, 3 thousand 574 accidents involving taxi cars took place in Russia last year. It amounts to 1.2% less than a year before. Taxi drivers were responsible for almost 63% of road accidents.
